Cycling team sponsored by Greater Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Associates to compete in first Tour de France style race in the United States

GPOA Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Michael Rytel is well known in Western Pennsylvania for his competitive cycling and GPOA is proud to sponsor the Elite Velo cycling team. Six members of the team who are under the age of 25 will be competing in the elite 6-stage Tour de Pennsylvania race this summer. Dr. Duke Thomas now performing minimally invasive X-stop procedure for spinal stenosis

After participating as one of the research surgeons in the FDA's evaluation of the X-stop device, Dr. Duke Thomas is now performing the procedure regularly now that the device has been approved for use by the FDA. The device is indicated in certain circumstances for spinal stenosis, and is implanted under local anesthesia and sedation in the outpatient setting. The X-stop device "spreads" the vertebra to relieve pressure on the spinal nerves.
