Thomas Kramer, MD
Dr. Kramer received his bachelor's of science degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1988, and his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh in 1992. He completed his surgical internship and orthpaedic surgery residency at University of Alabama in Birmingham, and was the administrative chief resident from 1997- 1998. He completed a six-month sports medicine rotation at Healthsouth Medical Center in Birmingham with the renowned Dr. James Andrews. He then completed a spine fellowship at the University of Maryland Hospitals in Baltimore in 1999.
Dr. Kramer has received numerous awards and honors and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Southern Orthopaedic Association, as well as Allegheny County Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society. He is currently the clinical instructor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Dr. Kramer has a particular interest in the latest technologies in treating complex spinal disorders. He performs a wide range of spinal procedures, including kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures, anterior interbody lumbar fusions with the Bone Morphogenic Protein (BMP) sponge-InFuse, and reconstructive/revision surgeries for failed back syndrome. He also serves as a spine consultant for spinal instrumentation companies.
He and his wife Nicole reside in Wexford, PA with their two sons.
